Cars... UGG!

Today was L-O-N-G. It all started with an oil change. We packed everyone up to take Jon's car to the oil change place, that way no one would have to sit around and wait. while we were there, Jon asked them to check on the brakes as they were acting up. They were to call with a quote before doing any work. So we get a call, $1367!!!! Even Ella was shocked, see:

The found lots of "things" wrong with the car. As a matter of fact, they said we needed all new tires and struts, and wouldn't you know, they are having a SALE on tires and struts! FAte I tell ya!! or.... perhaps a greedy salesman? So I had them do the oil as originally planned, and also change the wiper blades. I decided to get a second opinion on everything else. They wanted $200 to do the brake pads, and I knew that Budget Breaks did them for $78 so I knew I would save at least $130 right there, so after the oil change was done, we drove both cars over to BB and asked them to take a look at it.

I am glad we did... Their quote was 50% less than NTB. We decided to have the most urgent break work done and save some of the "soon but not now" stuff for later.
A few hours later we went to pick up the car and then headed over to Sam's Club to get New tires.

Both NTB and BB told us we needed new tires right away NTB wanted $430 for tires and labor for 4 60,00 mile tires, and BB doesn't sell tires. We knew Sams would be cheaper so we went there. We ended up getting 4 80,000 mile tires for $334, so big save there as well. But they couldn't do the car for "a couple of hours" so back home we went again. Finally after dinner we found out our car was ready, so back again to Sams to pick up our car. I am so tired of driving there and back!
But now Jon has a safe car to drive to B-ham on Monday so it was all worth it. I really do hate car maintenance, they should just work forever!
