Date night

Yesterday Mom and Dad watched the kids at their house so we could have a date night.  We had dinner at home with the kids, then we went over to bridgstreet and had ice cream at the Peach Wave.  Then, despite the 105 degree heat we walked along bridgstreet to the newest incarnation of the bowling alley "Pinz"  where we played pool for a 1/2 hour.  We played 3 games and I won all three!!  The first I won legit, the second, Jon sunk all his balls in 2 turns but scratched on the 8 ball.  The third, we were both down to the 8 and I sunk it first.  It was so fun!  We havn't played pool together in years.  After our 1/2 hour was up, we drove over to the dollar theater to see "John Carter" but when we got there they told us that the AC in that theater was broken (remember the 105 degree temp?) so we decided to pick a different movie.  We ended up in "The lucky one" which didn't start for another 40 min so we sat in the empty theater and heckled the screen and it's decidedly Un-fun "fun Facts".  Untill the theater started to fill up.  I can't believe how many people actually WANTED to see that movie!  The theater was full!  The movie was sappy, and romantic and well, stupid, but not horrible so it was all good.  I love date nights with my honey.

Tuesday Mom and I each had some chores to do, so Mom watched the kids while I got mine done, and I took the kids to chick-fil-a while she got hers done.  The kids had a good time playing in the playplace until the girls started fighting.  But we can't have harmony all the time can we? (or even most of the time, or at all it seems like some days!!)

Wednesday Jon played hooky from work and we all went to the free summer kids movie at Bridgstreet.  It was Puss in Boots, which was cute.  Then we took the kids on the Carousel and had lunch/shopping at Sams club.

Thursday was bowling again, and the girls decided to try bowling without the ramp to help them.  They both did a wonderful job, and Ella even bowled a real strike, no bumpers, no ramp!!  She was very proud of herself.  After bowling, Mom took us all to the Taco bus for lunch.  It was delicious!

Ice Skating

Today Ella was invited to a friend from her Kindergarten class's birthday party at the Ice rink.  It was Ella's first ever time ice skating.  She had a BLAST.  Especially since they provided little walkers to help those who were unsure of their abilities.  I wasn't planning on skating, but a former Sunday school student of mine convinced me to join for a few minutes.  We had fun together.  I am pooped and Ella has blisters, but at least we had fun!

On the Road again!

Tuesday ended our time in WI.  We got up early with the kids, said good bye to Kristy and Jonas as they headed off to the hospital, said goodbye to Chris as he headed off to work and then packed up the car to vamanos!  We had one last stop at a grocery store to get some cheese for Jon and then we started out.  We had a long long long long long day of travel, with lots of stops to pee, one bout of car sickness and several meals before we finally made it to Mimi and Pops house some 13-14 hours later (can't remember, too traumatized!)  We stopped for Dinner at Chick-fil-a and it happened to be Family night and they had a face painter there.  The kids loved having their faces painted.

Wednesday was our shorter day, but it seemed just as long!!  We left Mimi and pops around 10am and stopped at Wish's drugs to get candy (a lousiville tradition for us).  The kids were little monsters the whole way, fighting and complaining but we made it.  They finally fell asleep about a hour away from home.  After we got home, we let the kids play in the water slide at Nana and Grandpas house.  Get some energy OUT.  I am so very very very glad to be home!!!
