Feb 1, Progresso Mexico

On our 3rd day on the ship we arrived in Progresso Mexico. A summer retreat for the city people and a major fishing town. They now also have cruise ships come in. Progresso boasts the longest pier in the area, 6 miles long! Because of the long pier, they have free charter buses available for the ship passengers to take you into town. If you don't feel like going all the way into town, they have a little village of shops right by the dock for you to get your souvenirs. Mom wasn't feeling up to all the walking required to go sight-seeing, so she stayed behind on the ship and played trivia games all day with Lewis.

The rest of us headed off the ship after getting ready for the day. We got super lucky with the weather, it was nice and sunny and warm!

Grandpa did Wesley's hair that day, it was a big hit with the crew and passengers.

Wesley LOVED our steward Richard. He was awesome with Wes and was so nice and happy. He played with Wes whenever we saw him, Wesley loved to give him hugs and talk to him. It was so cute! One day I swear when we saw him Wes said "RICHARD!" clear as day. We were standing outside of Mom and Dad's room when he did it and they heard it too.

Getting off the ship we were welcomed to Mexico with a band.

The bus dropped us off right outside of a flea market that opens only when the boats are in town. We walked around there for a while then decided to walk around town before loading ourselves down with purchases.
We were our own tour guides

Ella was T.I.R.E.D......(whine) so she convinced Dad to carry her.

We found this cafeteria/food court place and had some lunch. We picked a restaurant with a lot of local people eating there, we picked right because it was GOOD!
We had some sort of milk drink that tasted like liquid rice pudding.

Dad ordered us Tacos, tostadas, flautas, buritos, chimichangas and maybe something else.

Yummy!

Ella had bought herself some stone turtles at the market, she played with them while we waited for our food.

After lunch we decided to try to catch the double decker tour bus and get a tour of the town. We found this ride on our way and Ella got to ride.

The tour was great, we had a local guide who told us about the town and we drove around by the beach, and through the down town. Our guide was funny! His name was renee. The wires over the street are so low, that he had to duck under them or get clothes-lined. The tour was great.

Before we found the bus, we found a juice shop that sold fresh squeezed juices. We had some orange juice and mango juice, the juice was AWESOME! It was like drinking a mango. Wesley liked it a lot too.

We were exhausted after our adventure. Both kids fell asleep on the tour. After we were done, we went back to the flea market and shopped a little. Then back on the charter and back to the boat.

We had a relaxing afternoon and a yummy dinner.
