Cruise day 1 (Jan 30)

We left Friday afternoon to beat the big storm that was supposed to hit Huntsville... did it? We stayed in a Hotel down in Mobile. It had an indoor pool so the next day we went swimming after our continental breakfast. After breakfast we headed over to the dock. It is Marti Gras time and we had lots of traffic to contend with. We were finally able to board around lunch time. Mom got to take the fast lane onto the boat because of her leg. Dad got to go with her but the rest of us were stuck in line. It was a LONG line. But oh well, we got on and had some nice lunch at the on board buffet. YUMMY! That afternoon we had to attend a "Safety briefing" to learn what to do in case the boat sinks. Ella was not happy about wearing the wrist band required of all kids under 11. After the briefing, we spent the rest of the evening checking out the boat and getting unpacked. We went to the fancy dining room for dinner and had some YUMMY food. It was a GREAT first day of the cruise.

Every night our Steward Richard would leave us a Towel Animal on the bed. The first night it was a seal.
