adjusting

We have spent the last week adjusting to having a newborn in the house again. Ella has been wonderful and all of my fears has so far been unfounded (potty training regression, jealousy, being too rough) She is great with Wesley and doesn't seem to mind TOO much when mommy asks her to wait when I am feeding him. Wesley has been a doll and sleeps pretty good for a baby. I have been getting about 6-7 hours total of sleep each night, although I am going to bed at 9 and getting up around 8 so that just means I am sacrificing housework and fun for sleep. I figure, housework can wait and my family will be better off with a happy, rested mommy and a dirty house than they would be with a cranky mommy and a clean house. Jon started back up at work yesterday and we all missed having him around the house.
We have been so lucky to have such generous friends and have had several dinners delivered to us. This makes my life so much easier as standing for long periods is still rather painful. Thank you friends!

Today we did Wesley's newborn pictures. Jon was a huge help getting the studio set up and with posing. Mom came over at the end to help with the family pictures. I look like a dork, but that's ok. Wesley was awesome and was so alert and calm. He gave wonderful eye contact for a 1 week old! My favorites are probably the ones of Ella and Wesley. You can just see how much she loves him. He's my little buddy

That is what Ella told me this morning when she climbed into bed with us to cuddle Wesley. She is totally in love with her baby and she keeps looking at him and saying, "He's so SWEET!" I am so very glad that Ella loves him so much, lets hope things stay like this for a while.

Ella wants to share her toys with Wesley. She is so good with him, she even offered to share one of her favorite toys, her t-rex! She can't wait till he is big enough to play with her.

This morning Jon and Ella decided to give Wesley a bath. He was starting to smell less like new baby and more like spit-up so it was definitely time. Wesley didn't seem to mind to much, but he kept slipping around sideways and was very hard to keep a hold of.

A much better night

Last night went much better. I am hoping that this is the start of a trend, not a fluke! Wesley went to sleep right around 9pm last night and I joined him since I was soooo tired. He slept until a little past 1am! I got almost 4 straight hours of sleep last night. After that, he woke about every two hours, ate for 15-20 min and then went right back to sleep. I got 7 hours of sleep total last night befor I had to get up and get Ella ready for church so I am feeling much more optimistic today.
Wesley is also starting to actually wake up for a few minutes at a time. This morning he was up for 20 min straight so i took advantage and tried to get some shots of him with his eyes open. We aren't sure what color his eyes are yet, or what they will end up. The are definitely much darker than Ella's and I think they will end up hazel or brown. Right now they seem to be either a steel grey, or a very dark blue/green.
