Capital reef hiking and water play

Today we went on a hike in a canyon here at the park.  It was HOT but a nice hike  The formations were sooo cool, the rocks had holes, and little warts and waves.  We saw some ancient graffiti and some names carved into the rock,as old as the 1800's!  We were going to hike to the water basins, but we got most of the way there and the other hikers told us they were empty right now, so we didnt' bother climbing.

After the hike we went to the u-pick orchard next to the camp ground. It was an apricot orchard but it was pretty much picked clean.  We finally found a tree with some apricots waaaaaay high up in the branches.  With the help of a tall ladder, and a fruit picker we got some down.  They were a little sour, but good and fun to pick our own.

When we got home we were hot and tired, so the kids played in the river to cool off.  they built a cool dam to make a faster current and slide down it. DAd took me into town to get internet because I am trying to do a timelapse of the stars and needed to download a program, alas, the internet connection wasn't strong enough and we could't get one to download.  Sad.  I will try again when we have a better connection.  It was a nice day!
