Sunday at the beach

Today was a wonderful day at the beach. We woke up with a little bit of de ja vu, as it was pouring rain outside. last year our Sunday was dominated by a tropical storm. Luckily it was just a thunder storm this time and it didn't last long. We got up and had breakfast, the kids actually slept in till a decent vacation hour and didn't bother us until almost 7am. after breakfast we goofed off and played until it was time to leave for church. We headed over to Apalachicola to the tiny little branch there. Jon, Wes, Ella, Kristy, Jonas and I only stayed for sacrament as the boys were MONSTERS during the meeting and there wasn't a nursery. (the branch only has a few members and only 2 kids 4, and 9 years old). Dad, Mom and Brenna stayed for the full meeting. At home we fed the kids lunch and put the boys down for their naps. Neither boy slept for as long as they usually do but at least they both slept? After the rest of the family got home and Wes was awake I thought I would take advantage of the cloudy weather and have our family pictures taken. I won't know how they turned out until we get home and I can look at them so we may try again at least one time. I think we got a few, but I want to be sure. Mom helped me with the pictures and Ella did a good job. Wes cried most of the time, but I think we got something. After pictures we let the kids play in the water and they had so much fun! There was a little pool formed in the sand and Wes loved splashing in it. Ella preferred jumping in the waves. Jon collected a bun of tiny little clams and is planning on cooking and eating them just like he did yesterday. It started to sprinkle so we headed back to the beach house. Instead of showering we decided to wash the salt off by jumping in the pool. Wes loves swimming so it was a blast. after swimming we had dinner of loaded baked potatoes. After we cleaned up Dad and I played a fun game with the boys. Dad got each of them a wind up car and we rolled them back and forth on the table. Wesley thought this was grand and it entertained him for over a half hour! After we get the kids to bed we are planning on playing a game of risk with Pop. Such a fun first day of vacation!
