My new Kitchen days 2 and 3.

Friday and Saturday we worked more on the kitchen. On Friday we took down the cabinets in the laundry room area and removed all the nails/screws in the wall and sanded and spackled them for painting in the morning. We also removed the last piece of the wall. Then we went to dinner and after that we went shopping. We purchased all the flooring, cabinets and accessories for installing those things. OUCH, it was almost $2000! My pocketbook hurt with that one. It took a really long time to figure out everything we needed as well, but we finally made it home around 10pm, a TON of thanks to Mom who took the kids home to bed while we shopped. We took home a few of the cabinets, so we would have something to start on tomorrow, I will be picking up the rest next Friday for the finale of our project.

On Saturday, Dad came over to help. We had some of the hardest things of the remodel to do today. mom generously offered to have the kids again. (THANKS MOM!!) We started the day by doing the first coat of paint for the walls, Ella helped with that. Once that was done I headed over to Dads to help him pack up tools, then off to my house to do the hard stuff. The first thing we had to do was move the Dryer socket from one side of the room to the other. We had to cut 4 holes in the wall to accomplish this, and it took most of the morning but we got it done (almost). all we had left to do was purchase a 4 prong outlet to replace the 3 prong one we had to start with. Then we had to move the dryer vent as well. This took only an additonal 2 holes cut in the wall! We now have properly installed dryer hookups for the new location of the dryer. Dad is so handy and awesome! After the hard stuff was done, we patched the holes that we needed to and then hung the corner cabinet. Jon tried to kill/injure me several times during the hanging of this cabinet, he drew blood twice! I didn't think that this would be the most dangerous part, I think I will stay away from him next time we hang cabinets. I had made a mistake in the ordering of the cabinets so we were missing one we wanted to hang today but we got the corner cabinet in and it looks great! We finished out day by installing part of the flooring, it also looks fantastic. We moved the new pantry in and had to cut down the top a bit to get it under the soffit but it fits perfectly now and I am so excited about all the extra storage I will have! By the time we finished all that, it was after 3 and Dad had to go. We cleaned up all the tools and our mess and since Jon and I hadn't eaten all day , we picked up the kids and headed out to an early dinner. Then more shopping to fix the mis-order of cabinets and pick out some handles for the drawers/doors. Finally it was time for the kids to bed and time for me to rest my aching body. I am going to be doing as many "little" things as I can this week in prep for our last big push next weekend. YEA!
