Camping!

This weekend, since we didn't do anything for Ella's spring break, we decided to take her and Wes to Camp Hulaco for an overnight camping trip. We invited our friends to go with us an we had a great time. I spent the morning getting things ready, food, clothes, sleeping arrangements. Jon picked up the keys from the church house. We finally got going around 2pm. We took a couple of our friends kids with us, since they were ready and the rest of them were waiting for the Dad to get home from work. It took about an hour to get there, then almost another hour to figure out which cabins we had keys to! Each key opens a set of cabins, and we finally managed to get some to open. Luckily for us, it was the set closest to the bathrooms! After we unloaded the car and got our cabin set up, we took the kids down to the creek. They had a great time playing in the water. After we were done at the water we headed back to start a fire and get dinner ready. The rest of our group showed up just as the fire got started. A fantastic dinner of hotdogs, tin foil chicken and s'mores. THe kids had so much fun playing outside, bubbles, kites, rockets and just running around. In the morning, I made pancakes and Brother Shafer made eggs and sausage. We finished breakfast with more s'mores, cuz you just can't get enough of those! We took the kids back to the creek for a while, took a hike to the waterfall and then started packing up. I think the kids had a great time camping, and it wasn't too bad for me either. A cabin (with air conditioning!) and only one night? THat is my kind of camping!
