Damon and Andrea arrived late last night from Memphis. They were there visiting family from Austin Texas and since they were so close they decided to drive down to see us too! We were so excited to see them after 3 years. They got in around midnight and we stayed up way to late talking after putting their kids in bed. Today, Jon and I still had to get up early to get the big kids up for school, and once everyone else was up we went on a little adventure for the day. We started out by going to the Harmony Safari park. A local drive through animal park in Huntsville. I have never been there before, but it had great reviews so we decided to give it a try. It was FANTASTIC! We had so much fun! We drove Damon and Andrea's car, which was the perfect choice as they have rear windows that roll down. We paid to get in and got some food, then went through the park and fed all the animals and got to pet them too. All the kids (and grownups) had so much fun. After we drove through, we stopped and looked through their reptile house. They had LOTS of scary snakes, lizards and alligators. Then we walked over to see their giant tortoises. James love them, he kept trying to climb on to get a ride. Andrea bought some lettuce to feed them and James thought it was the best thing ever until one of the tortoises bit his finger! After we calmed him down, we drove through one last time and then headed back to Madison. We stopped at the 88 buffet for lunch. We got home just in time for the big kids to get off the bus. Jaren and James were taking a nap, so Jon and Damon took the girls to the playground while the rest of us hung out here. Andrea played chess with Wesley, which thrilled him. Once the boys got back, it was time for our date! Laura was kind enough to watch the kids for us so we could go out. Aren't grandmas the best? We started out our date at the mini golf course. We played boys against girls. Girls were ahead in the first 9, but the boys pulled up from behind and won the game in the second half. After the game, we went to bridgestreet and had dinner at Pieology. We really wanted to bring Damon and Andrea there since it is such a unique restaurant. After dinner, we took a walk down the mall and ended up at BJ''s for dessert. We got their pizookies, which were fantastic! Then it was time to head home after a very long day. I am so glad we got to visit with them!
