1880 train and wax museum

Today was slightly warmer thank goodness!
We started the day with a walk down to the lake, it was a beautiful view and the kids had fun climbing on the rocks.

Today we had tickets to ride an old steam train. We had breakfast and then around 10 we headed into town and walked around a bit. We got to see them making taffy at a local shop. The were pulling taffy on 2 machine and they had a 120 year old cutting a wrapping machine going that was super cool. Grandpa bought all the kids some taffy and then we walked down to the train station.

The train was super neat. It puffed up right on schedule and after the current passengers got off, we got to board. Dad got us great seats in the padded seat car. The train ride through the mountains was beautiful. We saw several deer and got to hear them blow the whistle a ton. Evvie and james loved sticking their heads out the windows and watching the scenery go by. When we got to our destination, we had about 30 min Before our return ride so we snagged a picnic table and ate a snack we had packed, Took the kids potty then back on the train. Evvie took a nap for most of the return journey. The big boys had lots of fun taking pictures with nanas big camera.

After we got back to the station we walked down to a old time picture studio but it was too expensive so we grabbed some subway $5 subs and then went to the presidential wax museum. Wes had mentioned several times that he wanted to see a wax museum so dad obliged. It was pretty cool. all the figures were pretty life like but only some of them really looked exactly like the person the were supposed to look like. I really enjoyed the movie showing how they made the figures. After the museum we headed back to camp.

We had hot dogs and beans for dinner. We all enjoyed cooking the dogs over the fire. After we ate, we had a sing along around the fire untill bedtime. It was a very nice day.
