Last year my friend Sarah and I thought about how much fun preforming "The mysterious ticking noise" from the Potter Puppet Pals would be. After daydreaming for a while about our imaginary show we started to think about where we could preform such an act. We thought that our ward should host a variety show, not a talent show, where all you get is singing and stuff, but a fun filled, wacky, crazy show that instead of showcasing the talent int he ward, it should showcase the strange and interesting minds and families of the ward. So in a fit of insanity, we volunteered to organize and pull off such an activity. We had scheduling difficulties, with the date changed on us 3 or 4 times but we finally had a date, and a budget (a small small budget!) and we got started. We had 15 acts sign up to preform from silly songs, to juggling, to skits to of course, a rendition of the potter puppet pals. We served popcorn and other small treats and kept the decorations to a minimum with only movie posters designed by the acts. We also set up the stage and makeshift curtains. The final result was AMAZING. All the acts were wonderful, my MCing wasn't terrible and Sarah's work backstage was so fantastic that we had no hiccups at all the whole night. Everyone in the ward was most impressed with the show and I was amazed at the turn out! So many people came. There is even already talk of making this an annual thing.... which is fine with me, provided we have a bit more help next time! I was busy MCing during the show so I didn't get any pictures of the acts, but here is the set up.
And here are all the movie style posters I got pictures of.
