Tonight Elinor played in her very first Roller Derby bout. Her team had a special Rebel on Rebel match and they let the younger lower level girls play too. They split the team in to the "Forces of light" and the "Denizens of Darkness" Ella was on team white, so Nana and I got her a cool Storm Trooper dress (they had to wear white) and put her name and number on it. She looked soo cute! She needed to arrive at 3, to get ready for the game. Mom and I dropped her off and then waited in the car until the doors opened to the public at 4. We got GREAT seats. Front row! Hannah, joined us a bit later, and then Grandpa, Daddy, Wesley and Uncle Mark arrived right after the bout started. Elinor did a fabulous job! She was a GREAT blocker, blocking kids way bigger than her, and she got to Jam once and she got lead jammer and scored points too! I am so proud of her. The littles only got to play the first half, so that the big girls could play full contact derby in the second half so Elinor got to walk around with the "Ask me!" sign and answer questions about derby. She was excited to do that job. Jon, Wes, Uncle Mark and Hannah left after the junior bout, but I had signed up to volunteer during the adult bout and Nana and Grandpa stayed to watch with Elinor. After Half time, i was done selling tickets, so I watched a few Jams before we all headed home. It was a great evening!
I didn't get any pics of Ella as Jammer, because I video taped it instead, but she did a great job.
Announcing the teams with high fives.
