Wesley will be 4 years old tomorrow! I can't believe how fast time is going! Today we had his birthday party. He LOVES Curious George so he requested a CG themed party. I had a ton of fun coming up with the stuff for this party! Since I decided to do messy things at the party, I made each kid a personalized Curious George apron to wear at the party and to take home after. They came out so cute!! Also, it is impossible to find C.G. decorations or tableware locally, so I had to track some down online, and make my own. We started out by watching the episode of C.G. where he makes muffins with the professor. Then we made our own muffins. Banana muffins in honor of our little Monkey friend. I divided all the ingredients into 6ths and put them in little paper cups. Then we mixed them in one by one to make the batter. Each kid make 2 muffins. Then I put them in the cupcake pan and into the oven while we watched another short episode of C.G. This time it was about George letting bunnies out of their hutch and then having to find them. After the show was done, the kids had to find the sparkly bunnies that I had hidden in the room. When they found their rabbits, we got to paint little "stained glass" rabbits. This activity didn't go quite as well as I hoped, I think the craft was a bit over their dexterity level. But the kids had fun doing it, and that is what matters. The Muffins came out of the oven while they were painting and got set out to cool. Once they were done painting, we played "pin the hat of George" while Mom iced the muffins with cream cheese frosting. I had purchased 5 different kind of sprinkles so after our game we all sat down at the table again and each kid got their muffins and 5 cups of sprinkles and got to decorate their own cakes. Then it was time for singing, cake and ice cream and snacks. We finished off the party with presents and some time to play with the new toys. i think it went off very well and Wesley had a blast so that is the most important part. I am so glad that everyone invited made it to the party and that everything went according to plan!
