Mount Rushmore and the chuck wagon dinner

Last night was FREEZING.  I was shivering all night long. I packed for a summer camping trip, shorts, tshirts, sheets to sleep under. It was 35* last night. I was so glad for morning to come, just so i could get up and move around to warm up. Evvie got up at 5am local time (6am to us) and so i got up with her. We went potty, then helped Jonas build a fire to warm us up. I put some water on for hot cocoa and made up some pancakes for the kids who were up. Once all the grownups were up and ready for the day we packed up and headed out to see Mount Rushmore. We had a good time seeing the mountain. The kids all signed up to be junior rangers and filled out their info books so they could earn their mt. Rushmore badge. At the beginning of the trail a ranger taught the kids a dance and song about preservation. Then we hiked up to the top of the trail and took LOTS of selfies. Evvie did great hiking up the million stairs but wanted to be carried down. Dad and i helped her hop hop hop down the stairs.  After the kids were sworn in as jr. Rangers we left and went back to camp.

We made burritos for lunch and put Evvie down for a nap and then Dad and i went into town to find a walmart to get us some warmer clothes and blankets. Boy is it hard to find warm clothes in june!! I managed to find a sweatshirt and leggings for me, some thermal undershirts for the boys and a long sleeved hoodie shirt for evvie. Also a blanket for me.
After we got back we hung out at the camp for an hour before it was time to go to our chuck wagon dinner. The dinner place had a little artist village but there were no artists there so it was pretty boring. James had a great time playing with a hand grinder but the rest of us were releaved when it was finally time for dinner. The dinner and show was fantastic! We got beef or chicken, baked potatoes, beans, applesauce, a biscuit and some spice cake. Everything but the biscuit was delish. The show was even better. They preformed country songs, rock songs, old cowboy songs and more. They were all fantastic musicians. Evvie LOVED the show. She was dancing and clapping her hands. All the players were dressed like cowboys so she called them woodies and jessie. She especially loved jessie and her fiddle. Then she pointed at "Jessie" and said " Jessie put her sword on her guitar!" Which was hilarious.

After the show, we went home and straight to bed, it was much warmer with our new clothes and blankets.
