I'm very very busy and i've got a lot to do.... On the way to mt. Rushmore

Today we woke up to rain. Thankfully it stopped just before we started packing up so things were not as wet as they could have been. It took us a while to get everything in the trailer but we got it done and hit the road. Our first detour was to the atka lakota museum and cultural center. It is run by st. Joseph's school which is a boarding school for at risk native American kids. The museum was really nicely made. They had all sorts of artifacts from the daily life of the south dakota indian tribes. I especially like the toys and games. They had another section of the museum that had the history of the school. We learned a lot about the local tribes.

The second placed we stopped was this prairie dog tourist trap. It was just a gift shop with a prairie dog colony next to it. You could buy peanuts for $1/bag and feed the prairie dogs. They were very docile, we had them literally eating out of our hands and even got to pet sone of them! Everyone loved it, but wesley was the prairie dog whisperer. He had like 6 of them let him pet them.

The prairie dog place was just outside the badlands national park. We decided to take a detour through the park to see the scenery. It was amazingly beautiful. The rocks were so cool and the sweeping vistas were aw inspiring. It was worth the extra half hour drive.

After the badlands our next stop was the famous Wall Drugs. It is basically a huge tourist trap but they had great donuts and fun photo ops for us. We got to ride an antelope!

After wall drugs we drove the rest of the way to the campground and got all set up. Kristy and family arrived in the middle of set up and helped us finish. Then bedtime!
