Haircuts and Chikin'

Today we had a nice Saturday. We had a quiet morning and then we went out to brunch and to get hair cuts. Wes is a hair cut pro and sat nice and still for the lady. He was very excited to get a "pop-pop", but was not so excited when he got hair on it! Ella was decently behaved and she spent the time letting Talley-lalley slide down the hair washing chair. After haircuts we did naps and Ella and I visited our friends Lauren and Josh. In the evening Jon had to go to stake conference priesthood leadership meeting so the kids and I headed over to Chick-fil-a for dinner. I really enjoyed my relaxing day. I am a little worried about tomorrow, when the weather man has predicted up to 7 INCHES of SNOW! I think he is just still giddy over the 2ish inches we got at Christmas. Please, Please don't let him be right!

Fun game with new toys

Wesley got a bunch of giant Tonka trucks for Christmas. One of them is a Crane. Today Wes accidentally discovered a neat new game to play with it when the end of the crane got stuck on the wheels of his riding toy. He had great fun riding back and forth dragging the choo-choo along with him. He did get frustrated when he tried to turn around and the crane wouldn't stay attached. He finally figured out how to get it to go again and it was happy time. So easily amused.

It's raining it's pouring!

Today was a rainy , gloomy day outside, but we managed to have a great day anyway. Mom was going to do some shopping in town, so we went with her to Hobby lobby, party express, office depot and Sams club. We had fun spending time with mom! After we were done with chores Mom dropped us of so that Wes could nap. Ella and I watched "Cats and Dogs 2". This evening was Karate class. Ella is always so good in class and does such a good job trying to follow directions. I really like these classes for her.
Where's Wesley?

old habits are hard to break

I guess when you do something every day for a year, you kind of get used to it. It does feel different, now that I don't HAVE to be here. Even so, my day felt like it was missing something, so here I find myself! Today was a day of catch-up. Trying to get things done that I had set aside over the holidays. We did get to visit with our friends today, since we needed to drop something off anyway. Ella had fun playing on the trampoline with her friend. it was apparently very static-y today, when I went outside I found that I had a koosh ball for a daughter! I don't think I have ever seen such long hair sticking out so far! The afternoon was much more quiet, with cleaning and Karate. I had a nice day, and tomorrow is looking to be a good one as well.

Good byes are hard but hello's are fun

Today was the first sunday of the year. I have a new primary class. I LOVE them! They are sweet so far. I don't think they knew what to do with me, I think I am a more.... active teacher then they are used to. Lots of talking with the hands and jumping up and down with me as your teacher. I will miss my old class though. You get used to certain personalities, and you know who to call on for what type of answers and who you can count on. I will miss my little ones, but I know they are in good hands. Here is a really bad picture of us at the primary activity. Also, Ella did much better than I expected with the changes. She said that she really liked her new teacher a lot and that she had a nice class. I hope that her optimism continues!

I don't have to blog today

Today was a great first day of the year for the Carlsons. Ella and I went to a primary activity, and then we spent the day at home together, just relaxing. It was nice to have a long relaxing day. As Jon is getting the kids ready for bed, I realize that I DON'T HAVE TO BLOG if I don't' want to and it is ok that I don't feel like grabbing the camera. What a nice feeling. I hope you all had a nice New years day as well. Happy New Year!

Three-Hundred and Sixty-five

Last year I set a goal for myself, I decided that for the year of 2010 I would take at least one picture a day: of my kids, my life, my daily activities, whatever was around, but at least one picture, for 365 days in a row and post them on my blog. A whole year of daily posts. I did it for a couple of reasons, to see if I could do it for one, to let my far away relatives get to know my kids better for another, also to have a record for my kids, of the kind of Mom they had as small children. The blog helped me to get out and DO things. Even little things every day just so that I could have something to talk about here. I think that my goal made me a better Mom, or at least a funner one. I have enjoyed so much this project, sometimes I have hated it, especially on Sundays, but mostly I enjoyed it. Sometimes I had nothing to say, or no pictures to show but I did it! Today is the three hundredth and sixty-fifth day in a row that I have posted on my blog.

It isn't much, I am not funny, or eloquent or terribly insightful but it exists, and I hope that is enough for my kids, to be able to look back and see all the wonderful opportunities they had as a child, how blessed they were and how much they got to do and see. I hope that when they read this diary, that they will see how much I love them and enjoy them.

I am very very proud of myself. I didn't quit, I didn't miss a day, I didn't let it fade to the bottom of my list and slip right off. I may not have lost that extra weight I promised myself last Jan 1 (instead I gained back what I had lost the year before!) but this New Years resolution can be stamped "Finished" "Done" "Complete" because I did it!

Now for 2011, I think I will take a break from the daily blogs for a while. I need a chance to get back the enthusiasm I had at the beginning of last year. Don't worry or fret (as I know you must be crying out in anguish right now in fear you might miss out on the daily happenings of the Carlson family) I am not quitting the blogging scene, just toning it down a bit. I definitely won't be blogging on Sundays anymore, unless something really interesting happens, but I think I will still get the old blog out several times a week, just so you don't start missing us.

Thank you all, you invisible people out there who are reading this, your comments helped keep me motivated and inspired me to keep going and finish my goal.
Now, onward and upward, to new heights (and that weight loss I put aside last year).
