Today I took Ella for a mani and pedi at the Spoiled Rockin kids salon in Jones Valley. I had purchased a $50 gift certificate for $25 a couple of months ago and this week they had a special where the mani/pedi was "only" $20 instead of $32. I decided that this was a good time to go and give my baby girl a special treat. Mom watched Wes while he napped at her house and we drove down to make our appointment at 1pm. Ella really loved it and the ladies there were nice. I don't think I would EVER pay full price for what we got, but for $10 it was fun. Ella picked 3 colors for her nails and she got polka dots and flowers on them too. She was thrilled with the results and that made it just perfect. She even let me do her hair cute this morning and wore the outfit that I picked out. It was such a nice afternoon
Today Mom and I took Ella, Wes and Ella's friend Thomas to Early Works. The kids had a BLAST playing in the kid-struction zone and biscuits backyard. They were all super well behaved. After our time in the backyard was over we explored the rest of the museum and the kids loved the music exhibit. They liked pressing the buttons to hear the instruments play, and at the end they enjoyed dancing with each other. It was so cute to watch. After the museum we went over to Sams to get some lunch and pick up a few things. I got a new coat that I may or may not keep, I really like it, but $50 is a LOT of money. I think I need to run it by Jon before getting rid of the receipt. After lunch we dropped Mom off at home and then took Ella and Thomas to Thomas' house. His mom was having a craft playdate so she kept Ella for that while I took Wes home for naps. Ella still isn't here at 4pm, so I have a feeling that she is going to be exhausted when she finally gets home, but what a "super-fun" day!
Today is fall break for Huntsville schools so Ella's friend Nolan doesn't have preschool. We took advantage of this free time and joined him and his mom and brother over at the parkway place mall to play today. The kids liked going somewhere different and had fun playing. It also tured out to be "customer appreciation week" at the Chick-fil-a there so we spun their wheel and Ella won a free drink, Wes won fries and I won a toy cow. So we decided to have lunch there. The chick-fil-a cow was there and the kids liked seeing him. We had a great morning with our friends. After naps we went on a nice walk with our neighbor Maggy and her new puppy. The kids were fascinated by the dog and Wes kept gently grabbing the puppies face and planting a big kiss on his nose. It was sooooo cute! I made some great mini chicken pot pies for dinner, the kids didn't like them, but I thought they were yummy.
Today was conference Sunday so we stayed at home and listened to the messages online with streaming video. The kids were little horrors so I must admit that I didn't get as much out of it as I was hoping. I just found it impossible to keep the kids quiet and out of my face. But what I did hear was very nice. We went to Mom and Dad's for the second session and then dinner after. I had a nice day.
Today we had to devide our time between two wonderful events. The Madison Street Festival and General Conference. We started out our day at the festival. The parade was as 8:45 so we started out early. We are lucky enough to live within walking distance of the festival, as a matter of fact, as we were walking out of our neighborhood people we already parking along the street right outside, so we would have only saved ourselves about 150 yards by driving! We met up with our friends the Blakely's while on our way so we walked together. The kids enjoyed the candy part of the parade, but it was kind of lame if you ask me. After that we walked around the streets and checked out all the booths. Ella got to see some "princesses" and some star wars people. We saw a bunch of our friends from church and other places there as well. The kids got to go into a free petting zoo and Wes LOVED the animals. Ella wanted to go on the free pony ride as well, but the line was L-O-N-G and we didn't want to wait. After a couple of hours at the fair we walked home and then went out to lunch at CiCi's pizza. Then home for naps and watching General Conference in streaming video on-line. While Jon and Dad headed over to the priesthood session at the church building, Mom and I put the kids to bed and then had popcorn and watched "the blind side" It was a cute movie. now it is time for bed and more General Conference tomorrow.
I am flying out to Utah on the 14th to photograph the wedding of a dear friend. I asked my Mom to make me a dress to wear that was fitting for a wedding but also comfortable enough to photograph in. The first dress we made was beautiful, but the fabric was too stiff and unforgiving and I couldn't move in the dress. So I found a different fabric and a different pattern and Mom tried again. I think it turned out gorgeous! I had to buy a girdle, to help hide my garment lines and my fat rolls, and a Cami because the front was just a little too low, but with the whole ensemble, it looks AWESOME! I am wearing the girdle/dress right now for a few hours to make sure I can really move in it and be semi-comfortable. So far so good! I Love my Mommy and she is sooooo talented. THANKS MOM!!!
